For the past two weeks many things happened to me though they were minor. But I panicked, that is just so me. 

I sprained my waist, got a flat tire, then I had AAA to change it to the spare tire, then drove to work (late). Chang two front tires after work. 

Went to rental car to rent the car for my son’s moving day and the agent told us there was no guarantee that we can have the car on the specific date. Therefore, I decided to go to the mechanic to check to see if my car is good for driving long distances. And found that the both rear tires also need to be replaced, also the brake pads need to be replaced (it was worn out). Unfortunately, they didn’t have the tires that I need so they ordered it and I had to come back the following Monday to change the tires also since the driver side’s signal light cover was missing long ago, so they also ordered the whole set for me (have to change the whole set). Lately that afternoon I twisted my right shoulder.

The following Monday after work I went to the mechanic for the tires and the lamp found that the parts shop delivered the wrong tires so I have to come back the next day for it. The thing was that the day after work I almost forgot the tire thing and then I thought I should call the mechanic before I go but I didn’t think that should be no problem. I was wrong.

On top of these many things happened at work I felt like overwhelmed. One day on the way to pick up my son I broke out in tears. I prayed to Good, “ I know You are always with and help me wherever I need, but could You please make things smooth for me”.

I felt sick as soon as I walked out of the office on Friday, I still went on my nature walk at the Arboretum.

In my mind, I am sort of like, maybe this healthy walk will help me rip off my sickness just like that, but of course, it didn't work.

At night, I felt even worse.

My heart became bitter, I must get the sickness from those elders at work, they never cared to rest at home when they were sick, they won't cover their mouths when sneeze or cough or blowing nose or spitting just like that, all the blaming came up to me suddenly.

So, I  pray to God, first get off all the accusing inside my heart, and fight off my ail with me really quick.

Not that I am that important so I need fast recovery.

I have a Sunday school to teach for toddlers and a job working with seniors.

Thank God in couples of hours, I am 99.9% recovered.

My heart sank

My heart sank when I heard my younger one is not going to sign for the baptism class.

Pray for at least one of my sons will say yes to go with me for the Arboretum walk.
Both of them went with me that day.
And this is one of the few time that I can walk faster than my boys, I truly enjoy the outing with them, I love nature walk.

First step

This time I am seriously about job changing so far there’s only one resume sent out and one interview.

It’s not easy, especially when you hit certain age and have no typically skill.

I remembered our last fellowship meeting, we are studying of a book called Cerebration of Discipline, and we are barely on the first discipline, mediation.

Toward the end of the meeting, the leader of our group asked everybody take some time and mediation on the bible verses on “five bread and two fished”, imaged that we were one of the role except Jesus in this story or just had a conversation with Jesus.

And I came out nothing to share with, I’m not a creative nor have a good imagination person.

                            

Actually, toward the end of mediation, I did try to image to ask a question about my job changing to Jesus, but got no answer. What my guessing is, either it ran out of the time for Jesus to answer me or I just have to wait patiently and silently on this matter.

Praying mantis

God knows that this is what I need now, someone pray for me silently. Don't ask me questions like, who, when, where, why, what and how?

You can ask me why the praying mantis is praying upside down though, but my answer is, I have no clue, you tell me.

gas station 1 & 2

Today at the gas station, didn’t know what did I do or what happen to my credit card, it refused to take my card, then I went to find the cashier and no one is there.

Sad as I can be, so I decided to drive to another gas station that was nearby to get the gas, you probably know what happened then, my credit card being declined again.  

Feeling even sadder, I went home and email the credit card company, and they replied my email, says, there’s nothing wrong with my card and suggest me if this do happen again, call them onsite.

So, is the problem solved, I don’t know yet, I haven’t use this card by far.

Pray to God to take away all my worries, discomforts, sadness, burdens, anger, complaints and all the other negative attitudes.

1 Timothy 1:14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

sensitive

I’m so sensitive to cold air, smells like perfume, make-up, smoke or whatever that my body feel don’t like it then I cough and then followed by lots of mucus(phlegm) and if I am lucky, I can get them out by spit or blow it out easily, otherwise I may cough like crazy.

I understand that our body produces mucus in response to an allergen or foreign substance, my body or immune system is trying to protect me, but I think they are overreact. It really bothers me now. What I can do is excise more, boost my immune system, try to avoid the things I’m sensitive with, and lots of prayer.

The following is a little something that I found about the mucus:

Mucus has an actual purpose. It's secreted by the mucous membranes in order to protect the respiratory tract from tiny invaders like bacteria, viruses, germs, and allergens that you breathe. Mucus captures these germs to keep them from getting deeper into the respiratory tract. But sometimes the mucous membranes go a little overboard, and excessive mucous production results.

And the tips for boosts immune system:

1. Get enough sleep and manage stress.
2. Avoid tobacco smoke.
3. Drink less alcohol.
4. Eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds, which will provide your body with the nutrients your immune system needs.
5. Consider probiotics. 
6. Catch some rays.
7. Go for the garlic.
8. Eat medicinal mushrooms, such as shiitake and maitake.
9. Try immune-supportive herbs. If you get recurrent infections, consider taking immune-supportive herbs such as eleuthero (Eleutherococcus senticocus), Asian ginseng (Panax ginseng), American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius), or astragalus (A. membranaceus).
10. Make an echinacea tincture. This is good to have on hand when respiratory viruses overwhelm your defenses.

talent show

My younger one has a talent show as in a group of music perform try out this past Tuesday, I really appreciate their talent, brave, team work, efforts and everything. The result will be announced tomorrow, Thursday, I want wish they luck. No matter they can be in the talent show or not, they are that the best.

pray bravely

This morning, when I wake up, I feel that I have a cold, immediately I pray for myself before I get out of the bed.

“Dear Lord, sorry that I know that I shouldn't ask this, but please help to heal my cold right away, because I am going to have a service at the rehabilitation center in 3 hours.”

We all heard that, Lord has His timing; we have no right to set any time for anything by our own convenient. But this time is kind of different situation and urgent too, I’m also the one who serves as the worship leading this time. Therefore, I have to take chance and ask Lord bravely for this once. And yes! He answers my prayer.

dumplings & pain

The other day I made a lot of dumplings. I didn’t really count how many are they, around 150, I’ll say. I made everything from scratch, including the dumplings’ skins (made with unbleached wheat flour and water only). And after folding all the dumplings, there is some dough left over I then makes them into noodles.

The reason why, I prefer make the dumpling skin myself, not only because it tastes better, but also that I found the store made ones, most of them contain additives, like preservatives and the flour is bleached.

The ingredients for the fillings are the following: ground pork, shrimps, cabbage (since it does not contain a lot of water in this kind of vegetable, so I only mix salt with it for a little while and does not squeeze out water from it, I only dump out some very tiny little bit of water come out from it), eggs, green onion, garlic, ginger (I forgot to have it this time), salt, pepper, soy sauce.

We have some fresh the same day and freeze the others for some other day. Overall I really like that. But once again, I do need a food processor for the vegetables and/or the grinder for the meat. And yes! I bought the chunk meat and have the butcher ground it for me. Somehow I do prefer that if I can ground it myself. Oh! Maybe, just maybe I do need a mixer and a machine for the dumpling skin/noodle.

When the day end, when I go to bed, I was tossed and turn and couldn’t go to sleep, my right arm is so sore and painful. I do my daily prayer as usual before I fall asleep but not for my arm particular. And I start to try to massage my right arm with my left arm, which is the good one. And then there is a thought come into my mind, what if my left arm also sore by massage my right arm before the right arm gets better. At that point I still continue my prayer. Guess what happen next? Be honest with you, I don’t know either. The only thing that I remember is the next day morning when I open my eyes with no sore and painful arm. Oh! Yes! I have a good night sleep. It’s incredible!

elderly friend

One of my elderly friends was hospitalize weeks ago. And then I heard that she recovered, but since her age, she become very weak so now she stay in rehabilitation center. It sounds familiar, right?

This rehabilitation, that’s the one that I've been servicing for around 2 years. This morning I’m first very surprised to see her there. Because for some reason that I’m unfit to ask, where is she? But in my mind I’m so concern about her and miss her too.

When I saw her, I hug her and tears just come down from my eyes. Yes! Thanks Lord, you answer my prayer. We talk, pray and sing together. We are like long lost friends so happy finally to meet each other. And I plan to visit her as much as possible in the future and I’ll bring the music sheets that we used to sing together. Also the bible is the must when I see her next time. Thanks God for blessing me with lovely friend.

95% - 100%

We probably all have the experiences that when you are charging the battery for either cell phone or iPad. The closer to the fully charge the slower is the charging speed.
 
There’s a time, we charge the iPad before we go out then when we come home. I say to my son, “I wonder the battery is fully charge yet?” My son answers, “I bet it’s either 95% or 98%!” And he is so right, it is 95% charged.
 
It is late night, around eleven fortysomething. The battery is almost charge, I don’t want to stay up late to wait for it until it is fully charged or waste the whole night to have a fully charge iPad plug in.
 
At that instant, I’m startled at the charge status, goes from 95% to 100%!
 
The other day, when I try to turn on the iPad, I won’t work. I’m so frustrated, I pray to the Lord, I say, “oh! Lord, the iPad is not new but not too old either, if it broke, I won’t afford to buy a new one.” The iPad switch on right after my prayer, is that something?
 
Some other time, the karaoke machine is not working at the evergreen senior college. Different people are trying to fix it but no use, then in my mind, I say to myself, how about a pray for a working karaoke machine. And then you probably know what happen next, out of nowhere, the karaoke is fixed. Everybody is happy and singing afterward.

prepare for june sharing

For this June sharing, I spend a lot of time pray and other preparations. I first wrote it in English then my son to proof reading for me then translate it into Chinese and let the pastor to proof read one more time and give me the suggestion.

The only feedback is my sharing is too short, I add only one short paragraph in the end. The total sharing is less then 10 minutes. It is kind of short, I only can do the short, and I really do enjoy long sharing myself.

I spend hours to rehearse by myself especially for the Taiwanese one. I am not good at Taiwanese at all, I try my best very hard as my respect to Taiwanese congregation. I also record and listen to it several times before I feel comfortable with them

I ask suggestions from my kids, from online search; including how I should wear, talk and how to gesture properly on the stage.

I even ask my kids, "Can I also go to English congregation to do the sharing too." to my surprised, their answer is, "sure, you could ask the pastor to, if you want." we will see.

As I am learning Cantonese, I literally stop listen and watch the Cantonese channels for a whole week before the June sharing. So I won’t be confused between two dialects. I am not truly familiar with either one of them yet.

a willing heart

Some people are really providential; they have the capacity and willing hearts to provide helps to people who are in need.

Some have the hearts of helping but they only have very limited ability for it.

And some, they have plenty of time and competences, but they are not inclined to help.

I thanks Lord for all of them, maybe some of them not ready yet. Please give strength to each of them,   may the people have the willing hearts, may them grow each day in you.
