3/18/2015 Wednesday early afternoon, loud thunder roars twice in a
row.
Though I’m scared yet I thought about some Chinese idioms and look
up some idioms in English too about thunders. Also how traditional Chinese
culture sates about the season's change. Some of them are quite amusement and
useful too.

Hibernation awaking 3/6~3/20
三月五/六日是驚蟄，是廿四節氣中的第三個節氣，代表春雷出現，將冬眠的動物及泥土中的昆蟲喚醒。
March 5 / 6 is the Hibernation awaking, the third of the 24 solar
terms, when the first thunder sound, it awakes all the hibernating animals and
insects.
驚蟄過後，春耕季節正式開始。俗語有云「未食五月粽，寒衣不入櫳」，驚蟄過後，天氣仍然變化不定，乍暖還寒，我們要注意天氣變化，以免著涼。
After Hibernation awaking, spring season officially begin. As the
old saying goes, "before you have the may Zongzi, don’t put away the warm clothing, the
weather is still volatile; we should pay attention to it, so as not to catch
cold.
光打雷不下雨 [guāng dǎ léi bú xià
yǔ] all thunder and no storm; all bark and no bite; all words and no
actions 比喻空作許諾，不肯實施，不肯給人以實惠。口語中也指人在哭的時候很大聲，但是不掉眼淚。只有聲勢而沒有實際行動。
雷聲大，雨點小
/ 雷大雨小 [léidà-yǔxiǎo] loud thunder
but small raindrops; much said but little done—比喻做起事來聲勢造得很大，實際行動卻很少。
雷電交加—又是打雷，又是閃電。
捷雷不及掩耳
/ 疾雷不暇掩耳
/ 疾雷不及塞耳 / 疾雷不及掩耳—比喻事起突然，猶迅雷不及掩耳不及防備。
風雷之變—指上天示警的災異現象。
風雷火炮—形容十分急躁。
迅雷風烈—猶言迅雷烈風。
驅雷掣電 / 驅雷策電—比喻神通廣大。
平地起雷 / 平地風雷 / 平地一聲雷—比喻突然發生的重大變動。也比喻名聲或地位突然升高。
雷霆之怒—像霹靂一樣的盛怒。形容憤怒到瞭極點。
雷令風行 /雷 厲風飛—嚴厲威猛。
雷驚電繞—雷鳴電閃。比喻落筆如飛的筆畫。
雷動風行—指萬物運動變化迅速。比喻推行政令的嚴厲迅猛。
雷嗔電怒 / 爆跳如雷—暴怒貌。
雷奔雲譎—如雷奔行，如雲翻卷。
轟雷掣電—雷聲隆隆，電光閃閃。
鬼工雷斧/鬼斧神工—像是鬼神製作出來的。形容藝術技巧高超，不是人力所能達到的。 《莊子•達生》：“梓慶削木為鐻，鐻成，見者驚憂鬼神。風行雷厲—形容氣勢的迅疾猛烈。後多比喻執行政事法令等的迅速嚴格。
一雷二閃—形容躲避迅速。
迅雷不及掩耳—雷聲來得非常快，連捂耳朵都來不及。比喻來勢兇猛，使人來不及防備。
聞雷失箸—比喻借別的事情掩飾自己的真實情況。
瓦釜雷鳴 / 雷鳴瓦釜—釜—瓦釜：沙鍋，比喻庸才。聲音低沉的沙鍋發出雷鳴般的響聲。比喻無德無才的人占據高位，威風一時。
天打雷劈—比喻不得好死。常用作罵人或賭咒的話。
如雷貫耳 / 如雷灌耳 / 轟雷貫耳—打雷的聲音貫滿耳邊。形容人的聲名很大。元·鄭光祖《王粲登樓》第一折— “久聞賢士大名，如雷貫耳。”
咆哮如雷—形容人暴怒喊叫的神態。
雷霆萬鈞—霆—急雷；鈞：古代重量單位，三十斤為一鈞。形容威力極大，無法阻擋。
雷打不動—形容態度堅定，不可動搖。也形容嚴格遵守規定，決不變更。
烈火轟雷—形容性情暴躁，愛發脾氣。
聚蚊成雷—許多蚊子聚到一起，聲音會象雷聲那樣大。比喻說壞話的人多瞭，會使人受到很大的損害。
雷厲風行—象雷那樣猛烈，象風那樣快。比喻執行政策法令嚴厲迅速。也形容辦事聲勢猛烈，行動迅速。
黃鐘毀棄，瓦釜雷鳴—黃鐘被砸爛並被拋置一邊，而把泥制的鍋敲得很響。比喻有才德的人被棄置不用，而無才德的平庸之輩卻居於高位。
疾如雷電—快提就像雷鳴閃電。形容形勢發展很迅速。
歡聲雷動—歡笑的聲音象雷一樣響著。形容熱烈歡乎的動人場面。
疾風迅雷—形容事情的發生和發展，象暴風急雷那樣猛烈而迅速。
鼾聲如雷 / 鼻息如雷—鼾聲：熟睡時發出的鼻息聲。形容睡得很深，鼾聲很大。
風掣雷行—掣：閃過。風閃雷鳴。形容像刮風和響雷那樣迅速。
電閃雷鳴—閃電飛光，雷聲轟鳴。比喻快速有力。也比喻轟轟烈烈。
大發雷霆—霆—呼雷，喻震怒。比喻大發脾氣，大聲斥責。
不敢越雷池一步—越/不越雷池—跨過；雷池：湖名，在安徽省望江縣南。原指不要越過雷池。後比喻不敢超越一定的范圍和界限。
暴跳如雷—急怒叫跳，象打雷一樣猛烈。形容又急又怒，大發脾氣的樣子。
蟬喘雷幹—蟬喘息，雷聲凈。形容酷熱乾旱
佈鼓雷門—佈鼓：用佈蒙的鼓；雷門：古代會稽的城門名。在雷門前擊佈鼓。比喻在能手面前賣弄本領
暴躁如雷—暴：暴烈；躁：急躁。形容大發脾氣或十分著急的樣子

big or fat thighs. (Cruel. Also a rude term of address) Here,
