Something need to be memorized for teaching at the Sunday school for children 1-3 years old. Alone with prayer and storyboard and craft and worship music.

Jesus loves everyone, even you've done something wrong, we'll make the change become good, only because Jesus's love.

Zacchaeus the Tax Collector

1 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. 5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. sick day

Mom! I’m leaving for school. That’s the everyday routine, right before my young one leave for school, and I always answer with sober voice, OK. And that particular day, couple seconds later, he return to the room and say to me, mom, my stomach really hurt.

I jump out off the like spring, have him lay down and ask some detail, knowing that must be the food that he had the day before, I open the curtain, letting the nature sun light in and have him drink a cup of warm salty water.

Less than an hour fight, it seems like forever.

Rest when your baby is sleep, does this sounds familiar to you.

Salty water and chicken soup, this runs in our family for years as an effective remedy.

Sour throat, gargle with warm salty water.

Food poison and feel like throw up but cannot, then you definitely need some warm salty water, it’ll help you throw out those bad stuffs that are inside of you and make you sick.

Itchy eye(s), salty water or tea (overnight), use cotton ball to wipe the eye closed. For safety, never reuse any cotton ball and also apply on the other not itchy eye for protection.

First 24 - 48 hours, water (now I use warm salty water instead) only, then diluted apple juice, then, rice soup. This is the instruction that I was given from my older one's pediatrician when he was little. At the time, we were alone in U.S.A. and I don't drive, I took bus or walk, wherever that I need to go. The pedestrian knows about this, so one time when I called for help, he gave me this direction.

The other time was when my son was coughing, and I called again to the doctor, and he simply ask me to have my son to cough to the phone receiver to let him hear the cough, and told me, don't worry, and again direct me to buy some over the counter medicine to sooth the symptom.

I really appreciate, this doctor's consideration till today. And we are lucky to have this kind people around when I need help.

Salt and Light

time management

Are you good at time management and knowing how to prioritize of your daily life, family, work, communication services?

It’s very important but very hard at the same time.

measure by who's standard?

One time I attend a class for the Sunday school teachers or whoever want to be a Sunday school teacher. The educator asks us questions, here’s one of them that I found the answer is very useful and it’s so true. He asks, in Noah’s Ark, it mention about the measurement unit, cubit.

The cubit is an ancient unit based on the forearm length from the middle finger tip to the elbow bottom. 

As you can see it’s based on the forearm length from the middle finger tip to the elbow bottom. So who should we pick as the measurement standard, yours or mine or man or woman or who else’s?

Every student eager to answer this question, then the teacher says, it’s none of us’ standard, then who’s? Our Lord.

The other day, I just kind of recall my lately life, I’ve criticized the people and group or team around me, not all of them, but a lot of them. I’m feeling like I am someone, you know, important one.

I should review everything that I’ve done for the year of 2015 and help my love ones to do the change of good.

Boasting about the Future (James 4:11~17)  

11 Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.
12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you -- who are you to judge your neighbor?
13 Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money."
14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
15 Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."
16 As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil.
17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.

Am I busy or just lazy? Treat yourself well.

Although it costs a lot more than cook and eat at home, you don’t need to buy or cook or clean up and most of all no computer around, is that nice?

Just beware of which restaurant to choose from, the food that they use and the way they cook, healthiness and cleanness is very important.

mother & son

Bringing up kid is tough, bringing up boy is tougher, and bringing up teenage boy is way beyond toughest.

You need to set boundary with them and give them the freedom at the same time, you need to listen to them and want them to just shut their mouth at well, yes! You hear me right. But how I can do that and what!?

The other day some conversation happens between my son’s boss and me, yes! You hear me right again. She calls and leaves the message; ask me to call her back as soon as possible. My heart is wondering and pounding, why and what happen?

So I pray before the call back, pray during the phone call conversation and pray and pray after hang up the phone with her.

That’s an embarrassing and awkward moment and knowing that I should talk to my son long before this conversation. Glad that his boss willing to give him the chance and be honest with some problem that needs to be solved right away. The most of all, this, actually, giving me the best chance, position and whatever that I need to open the discussion with him.

A talk between mom and teenage son is really tougher than toughest. A lot of time, the words come out of my mouth and go into his brain and then come out totally different meaning from I’m meant to tell him.

That’s why I have to pray so hard to God to give the wisdom in using what way and expression toward him. And great that I can even use some bible verses to do the explanations for me.

Want him to have the best understanding and not feeling hurt and do the changes in the meantime.

A mom’s job is way beyond a teacher, a psychologist, and a doctor can do. You can never give up or hide away in any circumstances. Take it and completed the mission impossible, but not by yourself, with the Lord, I’ll say.

Right before I open this dialogue on the way home, I have a kind of giant burp, it rather a regular burp to me, but burp of release the burden and guilt.

So we have the talk after the phone call, which is Sunday after church, which is the younger one is with us, which is an only 15 minutes length talk. And the second day, is the normally day that I give him the ride to the work; it’s an around 20 minutes time one way that I can be alone with him and do the communication more and I purposely and secretly plan a pick him up plan after his work day. What do I mean here that I have to plan it; to not to let him feel that I do that by intention, “oh! I happen to need to go home at that time”.

And probably you will guess that I must have a long and hard prayer between God and me, to ask, how and what to use for this precious short time to share and the like.

How do people succeed, by making right decision, how to make a right decision, by experiences, how to gain experiences, by make mistakes. It’s so true and cruel at the same time.

Through this episode, for sure, it is a better way and obtains a preferable comprehension too. Help is not just coming from the positive suggestion but some not quite comfortable event too.

Yet whether at home, church or workplace, it’s just a tiny little part of our life, likewise, the people or situations or the like that you’ll encounter. Mind learns from the hurt, the fall and etc. from it. Don’t take it as an offense of every word, don’t do thing that you’ll regret later, well, it’s not possible, but at least try really hard.

Never fight alone and choice God be your boss on everything.

season's greeting 2016

Almost end of year 2015, the other day I go posting posters for Asian American expo, 1 or 2 of business store, when I about to step in and ask for permission, a weird feeling, I feel like that I just went to do the same thing, same store, talked to the owner yesterday.
Surly time goes so fast. Seize every precious moment.

A touchy Christmas movie, I know some of the scenarios, don't seem real.
But truly there are some things that we should chew on.

Kathleen, has carried around the unwanted memory of her father abandoning her and her mother almost 30 years ago on Christmas Eve. She blames her mom for her dad's leaving and refuses to celebrate Christmas since.
It's your own choice whether or not to bear the pain or hurt or unforgiveness and being bitter to other all your life.

Sam, Kathleen's father, an alcoholic, abandoning his family, turns out that he is just like his own father.
I mean, you can be the one to break the curse on your family, agree?

Lucy, the daughter of her soon to be fiancé, lost her mom when she is little, and she's been seeing the psychologist since. 
Lucy like a young psychologist herself, full of knowledge, but don't apply them to the real life is in vain.

candy cane

Feeling guilt the other day, I had a whole candy cane. I always tell kids, don't eat the candy cane, it is bad for you. Oh well, it's the Christmas time.

And later, I learn that you can use candy cane to tell the story of Jesus, that's amazing, right?

See when you turn a candy cane around, it's a big letter J, Jesus, and normally the candy cane is made as two colors, white and red. Red stands the blood of Jesus, and the blood of Jesus washes all our sins away, and we become white as snow.

My Christmas present from myself.

I've always dreamt to know how to play any music instruction. but cannot find any easier one to learn, all require talent, time, energy, patient or whatever qualification, which I'm not quite qualified.

Until I found tambourine, this could be the one that can do. There's no harm to give it a try.

important decision 7

Feeling confusion and broken in the air, four different languages / dialogues, Mandarin, Taiwanese, Cantonese, English, although I know more than 90% of of them, I don't understand any of them last night. Not even the worship songs and singing that I love dearly, nada, none, zero, zilch.

There's no Faith, Love, Hope, Peace, nothing touches me.

A friend that I know years ago from my last job. She’s from Taiwan, come to American for some years and then go back to Taiwan. She’s really a nice lady yet talented and creative and hospitality. After she go back to Taiwan, she come back to U.S.A. twice, she visits me and gives me treats and gifts. And the second visit, she tells me that that is the last time she visits U.S.A., feeling rather sad and don’t know what to say and do at that time.

Whenever I look at the desk and the computer that she generously gives them to me when she move back to Taiwan, my heart full of appreciation and speechless, although that computer already been replaced by another laptop. And thinking how can I ever thanks her in any way?

The job that I have now, she is the one makes it happens. One of the client that she refer to me, is still going on since then. She never asks anything back.

Her image comes into my mind so strong at this time is, one of our pastor is going to move to Hualien City Shepherds a church there. Then is this thought come into my mind, I can have little something to ask pastor to bring to her for me and of course at the same time invite her and family and friends come to church. God is the best gift after all, we should try our best to spread this good news to others.

Hoping through this opportunity, we can connect again in a different way.

Actually, to me, Hualien City, a special place and has some memories, mix with happiness and sadness. I used to live in Hualien City when I was very little for maybe 2 or 3 years. And also my kids’ father was born and raised in Hualien City too, what a coincidence, right? Therefore, for many years, I don't want to know or see or think or anything related to Hualien City at all, absolutely nothing.

God is the healer, let Him do His job. 

Couple years ago, there a group from Hualien City, they come to our church for some kind of mission sharing, and I can clear remember that day, as I listening to their sharing, within minute, I hurry out and burst into tears. Only because they are from Hualien City and that bring back some memories. My feeling then like, I want and happy to know and hear the people from Hualien City but too sorrowful to bear it as the same time.

And hey that’s that, the story of my Hualien City.

You can do anything but not everything, that’s what I heard from the radio the other day. 

Totally agree, sometimes, things piles up, you just need to do them one by one, cannot be rushed. Or sometimes, you just need to know you own limit and knowing how to say no.

Relax and don’t push yourself too much.

火龍果 Pitaya

The other day, I make the smoothies for 3, and I sneak in a whole Pitaya.

Oh yah! A whole Pitaya, whatever a good food that kids don’t like, I try to sneak in with some other food that they like.

Normally, they’ll either smell or taste or notice it right away, this time, is a mission complete.

Besides, I do really like the texture the Pitaya add in, kind of like crispy, from the Pitaya seeds.

book review - blessed, blessed... blessed

It’s been some time since my last book review, since the last book review, actually, I’ve been trying to find and read some books, but all of them, I only get to read the very beginning of the books and never get to finish until this one, “blessed, blessed... blessed.” Why? I just cannot have any desire to finish any book that I try to read.

Blessed, blessed... blessed, again is a bio, to me, they are more reality.

In this book parents with two boys, expecting the third child, a girl, exiting until they find out that this baby will be born with cleft lip and palate, a challenge adventure, a roller-coaster life begins. A serious condition requiring multiple cranial and facial surgeries await in front of them. As they decide to have the precious girl born no matter what.

The family members, friends, community all come to support in any ways they can.

Now the beautiful Mia, 12, strong and brave, together, they not just conquer all the difficulties, they help others.

God’s blessings are bigger than you ever dreamed. It’s tough to be a parent, and it’s even tougher to see your kid suffered.

How to Make Chocolate Mug Cake

Have a 14 oz mug ready, add ¼ c of all purpose flour, 2 T sugar, ¼ T baking power, 2 T coco powder, and stir to mix the dry ingredient well.

Then add 5 T milk, 2 T vegetable oil, stir until batter smooth.

Bake at 350º F for 30 minute, then top with whip cream and dip in.

How to Make Whipped Cream in a Mason jar

Chill both mason lid and jar at freezer for 10-15 minutes, add 1 cup of heavy cream, 1 T sugar, tight the lid and whip it, shake for 5-6 minutes vigorously, listen and hear the ready sign, don’t over shake or it’ll turn into butter.

This happen never before when I am at the church service time, feeling everything and everyone is shaking and scattering, spiritually, I’ll say. I am rather confusing and kind of worry too.

Cup-cookies, yes it’s not a typo, I use the cupcake pans to bake the cookie, and the cookie dough that are store buy. To make sure that I can a perfect shape cookies for bake sale, but I should cut the dough into 2 next try, it seems too thick for a cookie.

Nacho Cheese Sauce

First melt butter, 1 tablespoon in skillet, add 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of milk, stir constantly. Then add 8 ounces of pepper jack cheese stir until cheese melts.

Consume it while it's warm. HM HM Good!

The reason why I use pepper jack cheese, is because, its already flavored with everything that you need for the nachos. You can also add some cheddar cheese for the yellowish color, well, more like the color that you used to see in nacho.
