library policy

At our library, we can free use the computer for 2 full hours straight, unless someone reserve it ahead then you’ll be cut short. Which I found this is a horrible policy, for today I was using the computer half way through then suddenly the computer lock me out, says someone reserve this particular computer at 4:10. I’m sort of mad, I went to Libran to kindly go back to that computer and make sure my email and blogger is not still sign in.

By this a person can lost huge on something he or she is working on. Good thing, I didn’t lose a lot. I mean this is not a friendly policy or the person who reserve it in the middle while I’m using it, is doing it on purpose, but at least the Libran can kindly warm me ahead otherwise change this policy.

And I recall that when I first to try to use that computer, someone purposely shut down the computer, that’s how I come out the person who reserve it with some kind of intention.

How to help your kids understand the wrong and never do the same again?

Our trash can is small so we use the regular shopping bag as the trash bags.  And I always tell the kids, “Once the trash is full, tie it up and take it out to the big trash can outside, and never leave the trash bag out on the kitchen floor overnight.”

One time, after they done with cold brew coffee for the church coffee ministry next day, they tie up the trash bag but leave the trash bag inside on the kitchen floor, I guess it is because when they finish is late and dark outside so they decide to not to take out the trash.

If you also use the shopping bag as the trash bags, you probably notice that the bag is not that sturdy to hold the trash with liquid. Therefore if you leave the trash bag which is full of trash out then it’ll definitely leak badly.

For that reason this trash bag that the kids leave it out overnight on the kitchen floor, it leaks. In the morning when I see it, at first I am kind of mad, because they forget what I taught them.

If you were me, what will you do to let the kids remember and never done the wrong again?

Will you, number one, quickly clean up the mess and left? For this, most of the old generation, like my parents, they do so. I hope that you are not the ones. It will turns out, well, most of the case, the kids will never learn or when they grow up, they’ll not happy to find out that they never get chance to learn because of you.

Or will you, number two, scold them loudly and force them clean up or clean up for them at the same time? For this will lead an even worse result than the first way of handling the situation, the kids will not just never learn and never remember why you are mad, the only thing they remember is most likely, how terrible the parents you are. This is really sad.

Or will you, number three, kindly ask them to come to the scene, clean up and remind them one more time why and don’t ever do the same again?

That’s how we all feel like, the heaven and earth all rejoice in someone is being saved by the Lord.

Once I heard a pastor’s summon on TV about when he was little wicked kid, always make fun of a disable kid and try to mimic how he talk or act like that kid. But there’s one time when all go together at the summer camp, he heard this disable kid, says, “Good news! Good news! Jesus loves me.” That changed him.

The other day when kid’s school is asking some kind of important document for their marching band signing papers, I couldn’t find them, I almost panic and break down.

 

I pray to the Lord, please help me calm down and think very hard for where it can be, for other documents are not missing so I should be able to find them somewhere in the house.

And I recall a joke that once been told about between parents and the kids who lost something, the mom or dad always ask their children, “Think about it, where do you last see it or left it?” the answer will always be, “If I do remember then I won’t lost it, Dah!?”

You probably worry about me, do I finally find this important document, of course, and otherwise, I won’t be capable to write now.

I buy 3 $50 gift cards separately for friends as an appreciation gift and myself therefore I get 3 separate $10 store coupes. Hurray!
 
I feel good and bad at the same time and kind of guilty about it, technically it’s totally legal to do so. Two of the gift cards are of a brand name department store that kids happen to have something need to buy and there’s more, this department happen to have a promotion going on, which it happens all the time, for every $50 spend get a $10 store coupe so I get two of it.

I know it sounds smart and tricky too. Save money for something you need, why not? No doubt of friends used to joke about me, say, “you are the one be responsible for the slow economy.

I must more nervous than him so my throat feel uncomfortable at that moment and I found these encourage words on the wrap which I’ve taking them years and I never known they exit. I show them to my son but he probably is too nervous to have any sense of any.

Right people of things seems always come at the right timely.

IT HAPPENS AGAIN

Around two years ago, when I first participate worship team as one of the vocalist with our fellowship; Couple months before one of the sister invite me to, I kind of have a small talk with myself inside my head, it was one Sunday worship time, when I enjoy and sing along with the worship team on the stage, I say to myself, “ you’ll be the one on the stage too one day” and here’s the reply that I say to myself, “it’s impossible, you have stage fright, you don’t have any music background, you even sing well, nah! Impossible, stop it, it’s just a joke”.

And there, I accept the invitation, on the stage, taking the microphone and sing with only a willing heart; you can do so much through Him and Him along.

The other day similar situation happen again, our pastor come to me and ask that if I’m willing to and so he will put me into a suggestion list as a deacon for the fellowship department?

I’m shock but not surprised, why? Well, this kind of thought come into my mind, “you’ll be a deacon”, not long ago too, same struggle and reply for myself as before, “don’t be ridiculous, silly you”.

Whether I’ll be qualified or not, it really doesn’t’ matter, what matter is God be my supporter forevermore.

There is a time when I got home and ask my young one to do a chore for me. He answered, "哥哥 (elder brother in mandarin), can do it, I just got home and I’m tired." guess what? The brother answered exactly the same with “me too” in the beginning, and you probably know what happen next, here’s my answer, “oh! Yeah! Me three, I just got home and I’m tired.”

Lemon Bars

It looks yummy and seems not complicated, add it to my waiting list and try it out some time.

Crust:

7 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons sugar
¾ teaspoon vanilla
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour

Topping:

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons unbleached all-purpose flour
3 large eggs
1 ½ teaspoons finely grated lemon zest, preferably from an organic or unsprayed fruit
½ cup fresh lemon juice
2 to 3 tablespoons powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

1. Preheat the oven to 350°. Line a heavy 8-inch square metal baking pan with foil.

2. Make the crust: In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter with the sugar, vanilla and salt. Add the flour and mix just until incorporated. Press the dough evenly over the bottom of the pan. Bake until the crust is well browned at the edges and golden brown in the center, about 25 minutes.

3. Meanwhile, make the topping: In a medium bowl, whisk the sugar and flour to mix. Whisk in the eggs until blended, then whisk in the lemon zest and juice.

4. Turn the oven down to 300°. Carefully slide the rack with the pan out and pour the filling onto the hot crust. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes longer, until the topping is puffed at the edge and no longer jiggles in the center. Transfer the pan to a rack and let cool completely.

5. Lift the foil liner and transfer the bars to a cutting board. If the surface is covered with a thin layer of moist foam (not unusual), you can blot it gently with a paper towel. Cut into bars and dust with powdered sugar just before serving if desired.

This is only one of the episodes that I watched the other day, for this is for America region. I’m very enjoy watching them, they have the same show globally, it truly encourage people all over the world with talent, some maybe not really truly have talent as good enough for the stages. Still, I admire their courage no matter what.

Among those participants, some even come with whether is natural born or because of accident to come to this competitions with disabilities.

national night out

Costco, Huntington library, National night out, those places and event you maybe familiar with and don’t think anything special about them.

For there are someone involved though she pass away months ago, I kind of not easy to let go yet. And going back to these places and event for not intention to, it’s like saying goodbye, paying the last respect to her and comfort me at the same time.

She went with me one time for she has the membership so I can get the discount of tires from Costco; same as the Huntington library, she has the membership so we can enter early, we went together with other friends and treat us lunch after; the national night out, an event that held annually at our city hall, for couple years we met each other with family without setting a appointment for it.

When at first kids say they want to go the national night out, I hesitate, and when friends invite me to go to Huntington library, I was shock.

I’m not alone to face the sorrows.

6 years gone by since for my older one to the registering day for high school.

Times get wings, you won’t be able to win the race, no matter you are young or old, rich or poor, strong or weak. It flies away just like that, it won't ask for your permission, you cannot preserve it or get it back, on one can.

Soon they out my sight, independent or even give me or others a helping hand.

surgery

A surgery but not for me though.

Long waiting time, two hours ahead for register and prepare for the surgery, doctor’s late and a surgery ahead of us, don’t know that is scheduled or if it’s a emergency one, so it’s another two hours add onto it, one hour surgery, one hour awaking from anesthesia, another hour for observation for making sure everything is OK before we can finally head home. Totally a little bit more than seven hours, like going to work.

It’s a tedious waiting, I come prepare with a book, that I am reading on, month of August living life, iPod and cell phone, and you won’t believe the waiting room is, a full home house of people, surgery and families of them and it’s really noisy, if I have company will I do the same?

I pray, read a little, use the internet for sometime then I give up, just relax and rest. But forgot to call for clients for the appointment cancelling and rearrangement, it’s really terrible for me, a professional sale rep.

It’s a vocal cords surgery, not exactly on the vocal cords; something very near it and after that they need to do the lab for insures it’s not an abnormal growth of cells.

Before, I can never image how and why this works, God’s living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing deep down into our soul and spirit and joints and marrow, there’s no way to hide from Him, He knows everything about me, even way before I can realize it myself.

Until days ago, when I was driving home from work, I was depressed, frustrated about a lot of things, don’t want go either way, home or work. For some time, I always use the driving time as a worship songs practice time for myself, for last Friday, I was the one who is leading the fellowship worship. I sing and sing try to memorize the lyrics and melodies as much as I can, I try real hard. 

It’s hard to describe the emotion of mine at that moment, the mixed feelings, tiredness, anger, hurting and a serious headache and anything in between. Then I feel the sudden sorrow and burst into tears, I cry and cry dearly like I lost something or someone precious. Then I start to pray for a lot of things, mostly for myself at that point. I pray for forgiveness, for healings, for help, for wisdom and so forth. Yes! I do ask for some many things that God is ready all the time for my inquiring.

And this happen in less than 20 minutes of my driving time, it’s like taking all my burdens, sorrows, worries, sickness, doubts and anything that I should let go.

We all know we should get rid of those, whether it’s emotional or real loads of but cannot and cannot help to take strong grip of them most of the time.

Life is short and not easy either, let go and let God.

Camille Seaman, a photographer spends ten years documented the rapidly changing landscapes of Earth's Polar Regions, Arctic and Antarctic.

Those pictures are breathtaking and incredible, not everyone can have this kind of chance in their life to view them in person.

The travels, the expeditions, the time, the danger and so on is worthy for her and the teams to do so.

The meaning behind those pictures, melting away iceberg is the advocators and scientists trying to protect and warning human beings for our earth, the environment, the place we live.

In between there’s also her life story, her struggles, her childhood, every touching stories behind the scene.

Who doesn’t wish to have a smooth and nice childhood, a difficult childhood, it sometimes leads to a successful life later. But if you do have a choice, will you choice to become strong and success life later or a miserable childhood?

Before, Lamb is what my kids enjoy but not me.

And now I find a way to cook it so that the special smell of it won’t be so strong, I enjoy it also.

I have lots of different kinds of spices to add onto, cooking with the lamb; cumin, red pepper powder (spice it up), paprika (to add the color and the flavor), dry dill (try to use what I have in hand), garlic, ginger, green onion also some vegetable; onion, celery, potato and the like.

Lamb meat is so tender; lamb legs have the same tenderness, so I stop buying the rib to save the budget.
