Cold

Oh! My, I think caught a cold.

But I know this one may not be my first cold for 2017, it'll be the last one for this year, in less than two days, it'll be another brand new 365 days.

And I know I'll be fine by tomorrow.

Besides my regular gaggle with salty water for my cold, I also drink a whole cup of very warm light salty lemon water and of course my routine prayer is my stronghold.

When I walk in the office in the morning with short sleeves.

Co-worker: wow! Short sleeves!

Me: yes, the outside world is warmer!

New Year resolutions; patient more, complain less, exercise more.

Commiuion

There was one time, we had our routine communion at church, the bread and cup are as the body and blood of Christ consumed as memorials of Christ's death; a spiritual union between Christ and communicant.

I took the cup and bread and went back to my seat and then the Pastor asked us to bow our heads and prayed and that when I suddenly realized that my cup was empty.

Guess it's time for me to have a self-examination, why did this happen?

Chase Bank

I am kind of upset about my favor bank, Chase Bank.

The other day when I went to deposit a check, the tellers were busying chatting to each other and pay much attention to me.

When it was my turn, she showed no interest to ask me to come to her counter, and she asked my zip code, it sounded like zip hole, so I asked her to repeat, she replied with inpatient.

After done, she acted discourtesy, no thanks or anything.

HSBC & Bank of the West

I closed two bank account this year.

HSBC, there's time when I walked in this bank, the bank was pretty much empty and half the office lights were not even on, weird, so, I said to myself, it's time to close my account with this bank.

When I went to the teller, told her that I want to close my account and she told me, oh! No! I cannot and you just write the exact check amount to transfer your money, when we see your balance is zero we then will close your account, puzzled.

For Bank of the West, it's a long story, ok, long story short; I had a cd account with them, each term I just let it renew automatically. One day a letter from bank said that because this account is inactive for some time, so they need me to return the mail to reactivate my account, that's totally fine, because that's the rule or the law or whatever.

But, I forgot to return the mail and past the deadline for couple of days, and seriously I was reminded by my horrible dream about to lose something important, so I rushed to the bank and talked to the customer service representative, he then checked my account, and told me that my account were being renewed. Still, I felt safer to mail back the letter to the bank to ensure my money will be still mine.

I meant that I really appreciated that my money are safe, though it's not a big amount but I earned it fair and square.

So I had my cd stay for another term, 6 months, according to this representative, if I close then, it’ll have a big penalty, which is not quite true and I decided to close this account after for sure.

I then went to the bank on the mature date, and the customer service representative told me the earliest date to terminate it is tomorrow, I completely understand, but then she told my you should go to branch that you open this account and said that you can see that we are lack of workers here, there are couple of workers there but they had zero customer besides me, I wonder why?

Nobody wants to see their money disappear. While the money still technically belongs to the customer, it becomes a hassle to get the money back from the state (where inactive account balances are sent to). And this bank is not even bother to send the letter again or email or text or call the customer, what if i didn't receive the letter.

11-24-2017 sharing

Jeremiah 7:25-26 25 From the time your ancestors left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again I sent you my servants the prophets. 26 But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their ancestors.’

Isaiah is most famous for his descriptions of God’s Messiah, among which is this passage from Isaiah 53:4-6
Jeremiah wrote Jeremiah and Lamentations
Ezekiel 以西結書 37:1-14  Israel had failed, but God had not forgotten them and would one day restore and redeem them. This hope in an eventual restoration is vividly portrayed in the famous story of the“valley of dry bones

Come Alive (Dry Bones) [Live] - Official Lyric Video

Daniel 6; Daniel in the Den of Lions.

Hosea (Persevering Love)
Joel (The Coming of the Day of Yahweh)
Amos (Judgment for Abused Privilege)
Obadiah (Poetic Justice)
Jonah 2  (Fleeing From God’s Will) Jonah's prayer 4:2
Micah (Who Is Like God?)
Nahum (The Doom of Nineveh)
Habakkuk (Solution to Perplexity)
It concerns the problems of his faith in the face of two apparent difficulties: (1) Why did God permit the increasing evil in Judah to go unpunished (1:2-4)? And how could a Holy God (1:13) use sinful nations like Babylon as His source of judgment (1:12-2:1)? 哈巴谷書 3:17-19
Zephaniah (Blessing Through Judgment)
Haggai (Encouragement)
Zechariah (the Jealousy of Yahweh)
Malachi (Repent and Return)

預表耶穌基督的誕生

The Major Prophets are Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel. The Minor Prophets are Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.
The Major Prophets are described as “major” because their books are longer and the content has broad, even global implications. The Minor Prophets are described as “minor” because their books are shorter (although Hosea and Zechariah are almost as long as Daniel) and the content is more narrowly focused.

(1) warning of impending judgment because of the nations’ sinfulness; (2) a description of the sin; (3) a description of the coming judgment; (4) a call for repentance; and (5) a promise of future deliverance.

We read of Christ’s birth in Isaiah and Micah. We learn of Christ’s atoning sacrifice in Isaiah. We read of Christ’s return in Ezekiel, Daniel, and Zechariah. We learn of God’s holiness, wrath, grace, and mercy in all of the Major and Minor Prophets. For that, they are most worthy of our attention and study.

The preexilic prophets came to warn of impending judgment. Obadiah wrote to or about Edom. Amos, Hosea and Joel wrote to the northern kingdom. Isaiah, Micah, Nahum, Habbakkuk, Zephaniah and Jeremiah wrote to warn Judah.

The exilic prophets wrote to assure the people that God would restore them to the land. Ezekiel and Daniel wrote from Babylon to encourage the people that God would restore the nation.

The post exilic prophets wrote to assure the people that God would deal with the restored community according to the same principles. They might have been tempted to think that because Babylonia had defeated Israel, the Babylonian gods were superior to Yahweh. One of the postexilic prophet's jobs was to point out that Yahweh was superior and the only reason Israel was defeated was because Yahweh was disciplining them. Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi were writing to the people who had returned to Jerusalem from Babylon.

sad day

3 in a row in one day, makes me even sadder.

I got an email for a job interview on the Friday morning, but I have a community service to serve so I emailed them to explain and asked for a reschedule interview, and got the reply as following, kind of upset but knowing that I should have peace in God that if this is a right job for me, it'll still be reserved for me.

Hi Alice,

Thank you for your clarification. However, our time for interview this week is set for Friday 11AM.
We will have another interview if the position is still open next week. I will keep you posted!

I emailed to a long time no see church sister about that I saw her in The arboretum and I noticed that she was very busy on coordinating the field trip for her adult day care health center therefore I didn't even bother to say hi to her, and then I emailed her, to say hi and for some other thing. And I got this reply, sad but then I realized that I talked to her in person before but never email her, that's why?

Hi Alice,

Thank you for remembering me; would you please remind me maybe your Chinese name? You go to EFCLA too?

The third one is that I emailed a sister in English and it must be my poor English got her confused, so I reply right away explain in Chinese, problem solved.

A lot of times, really, is that what you thought is not what other's thought or feel, must be careful, pray for my job changing and wisdom.

half the age

Yesterday I had  my second thanksgiving gathering with another fellowship.

One of the members is 104 years old, I am exactly half her age, amazing, she is such a lovely YOUNG lady and I hope that can have the same energy as her.

Home alone

Home alone on Saturday, kids go out with one of their friends, though they do want me to join them, but I prefer to either go out just three of us or with a big group of people.

Time for my reading and writing and praying and singing and dancing and cooking and more, oh! Boy! Lots of things that I can / should do when the nest is empty.

I call these, "Deviled Potatoes"!

Bake at 350°F until one side is tender. Remove from oven, and let cool 15 minutes.

You probably wonder why only one side is tender, like only half cook, by this way turns the potatoes upside down so the soft cooked side up carefully scoop out potato pulp into a bowl, and you'll get the shells intact easily.

Next sauté all the ingredients and this will be the best time to blend some things that you don't usually like to eat alone or use of the leftovers, when cook mix with potato pulp in bowl until well blended.

Spoon mixture generously into each potato shell, top with some more cheese and bake again until cheese are melted and slightly turn brown.

For my ingredients, I have pinto beans, vegetables, beacon, cheese, garlic and some random leftovers, that means, you can experiment with different ingredients every time.

11/6/2017 national nacho day

11/6/2017, on the news it said, its national nacho day and on that day out of the blue, I happened to make something like it.

My older son asked me, was that the reason why you made this, I answered, nope.

For the ingredients I have, Pinto beans, Onion (sautéed), Garlic (sautéed), and Cheese and also sneak in some Pumpkin and Coconut flesh successfully.

Gifts from heaven

God knows me even before I was born.

Last Thursday (11-2-2017) when I know that I have to work on Saturday and Sunday that I won’t be able to go to church I was so upset.

To me go to church, it's like go to the fuel station; it fuels me up physically, mentally and spiritually; worshipping and fellowship with brothers and sisters, listening to God's words through the pastor's preaching.

Sunday (12-4-2017)  early morning at 12:24 am, a long not seen sister text me for a simple touch the base greeting, at 10:48 am, a sister text me for something about the Thanksgiving Day potluck at her home, and at 1:10 pm,  another sister called me but I missed the call.

God knows my grumbling since and saying that enough is enough, stop complaining and upsetting, fulfill your work, you are the body of Christ you are the church.

Thanks God for sending three angels to save my day.

出聲或不出聲的祈禱主必成就。

I know that I said this before, will, I have to say it again that I have a lot more to catch up on writing.

10-20-2017 fellowship - Prayer

A Life of Prayer

John 15:7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you.

James 5:13-18 The Prayer of Faith
13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

Of all the Spiritual Disciplines prayer is the most central because it ushers us into perpetual communion with the Father. Meditation introduces us to the inner life, fasting is an accompanying means, study transforms our minds, but it is the Discipline of prayer that brings us into the deepest and highest work of the human spirit. Real prayer is life creating and life changing.

There are many different purposes and ways of prayer, however this book confine to learning how to pray effectively for others.

The Bible lists at least nine main types of prayer: prayer of faith (James 5:15), prayer of agreement (also known as corporate prayer) (Acts 2:42), prayer of request (also known as petition or supplication) (Philippians 4:6), prayer of thanksgiving (Psalm 95:2-3), prayer of worship (Acts 13:2-3), prayer of consecration (also known as dedication) (Matthew 26:39), prayer of intercession (1 Timothy 2:1), prayer of imprecation (Psalms 69), and praying in the Spirit (1 Corinthians 14:14-15).

Matthew 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Misunderstood about prayer; why pray if we have a closed universe and God knows everything already? Changing God's will?

1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.

Prayer is communicating with God, practice, exercise our prayer muscle. Start from praying for small things.

God wants to have a relationship with us. We are given several different types of prayer in the Bible. What is important is that we have the relationship with the Lord through prayer in the way He desires. Spend time studying God’s Word

He hears our prayers and He answers them with wisdom, empathy, and compassion. Sometimes those answers come in very direct, concrete ways, but other times they come more subtly, through impressions, promptings, or feelings of peace. We can go to our Father with desperate questions, with humble confessions, or with gratitude; we can pray to better understand Him and His plan for us.

Quiet our heart and tuning to God (hear, know, obey) surrounded with faith.

Pray with opening with a phrase like “Dear Heavenly Father” and closing with words such as “In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.” We can show reverence by praying with bowed heads, folded arms, and closed eyes.

Prayer is among the most valuable gifts we receive as spirit children of a loving Heavenly Father.

Luke 22:42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”

One of the most critical aspects in learning to pray for others is to get in contact with God so that his life and power can flow through us into others.

1 Peter 5:8
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Success in the small corners of life gives us authority in the larger matters. Not faith but compassion.

If the idea is accompanied with a sense of dread, then probably you should set it aside. God will lead someone else to pray for the matter.

But Jesus taught us to come like children to a father. Openness, honesty, and trust mark the communication of children with their father.

As with meditation, the imagination is a powerful tool in the work of prayer. Imagination often opens the door to faith.

Example 1; pray once a day for thirty days for this marriage. (Pray with imagination, faith, and compassion)
(1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray continually,)
Example 2; pray with a little boy for his baby sister's sickness. (Pray like a child)
Example 3; pray for our own children. (Blessed is the child who is blessed by adults who know how to bless!)
Example 4flash prayers / swishing prayers, the coincidences occur much more frequently when he prays. (We must never wait until we feel like praying before we pray for others.)

Pastor pray while our serving at rehabilitation center.
Peace of mind is one of the answers of prayer.

“I want a life of greater, deeper, truer prayer.”

My kind of birthday cake.

prayer meeting

10-06-2017 church join prayer meeting
While we were worshiping at the beginning, I suddenly have a thought that I should picture brother Chen is playing the drum whom had a Brain Hemorrhage months ago, as a prayer for him. He is a great drummer and plays at worship team.

He is still recovering from illness.

10-10-2017
I started a prayer, whenever I worship, I’ll have the prayer as brother Chen play the drum and then I thought I should picture Carol in this worship too, she is sitting, oh no, she is standing and worship with us. You probably wonder about what so special by standing up and worship?

Carol is a friend's daughter whom had a severe incident more than 5 months ago, she is paralyzed from waist down (paraplegia) and for the past months she has been lying on the bed and won't be able to sit up on her own.

10-12-2017
I normally have a group of three that meet once a week, fellowship and encourage each other.

One of us, she went to visit Carol the day before (10-11-2017) and shared to us that Carol sat herself up to the wheelchair for the first time.

And I believe that she will walk again.

Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Believe it or not, the best part that I like is the Spirit.

When you heard your employee use metal container in the microwave, what’s the first image come into your mind?

Whoever done that should pay for the damage.

Or you should concern about the safety issue of it first?

How can we touch the sky?
By standing on our toes?
Climb a ladders?
Built a tower way high up to the sky?

When our knees hit the ground, when we surrender to the Lord, when we humble ourselves!

Touch The Sky (lyric video) - Hillsong UNITED

What fortune lies beyond the stars
Those dazzling heights too vast to climb
I got so high to fall so far
But I found heaven as love swept low

My heart beating, my soul breathing
I found my life when I laid it down
Upward falling, spirit soaring
I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground

What treasure waits within Your scars
This gift of freedom gold can't buy
I bought the world and sold my heart
You traded heaven to have me again

My heart beating, my soul breathing
I found my life when I laid it down
Upward falling, spirit soaring
I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground

Find me here at Your feet again
Everything I am, reaching out, I surrender
Come sweep me up in Your love again
And my soul will dance
On the wings of forever ( x2 )

My heart beating, my soul breathing
I found my life when I laid it down
Upward falling, spirit soaring
I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground ( x2 )

Find me here at Your feet again
Everything I am, reaching out I surrender
Come sweep me up in Your love again
And my soul will dance
On the wings of forever

Upward falling, spirit soaring
I touch the sky
When my knees hit the ground

Oh! Lord, we want to praise you with all our heart and soul forevermore.

O Praise The Name (Anástasis) - Hillsong Worship

I ever had a prayer years ago when the first time I led the worship, I said, "Lord, please bring new comer(s) whenever I lead the worship."

Yes and Amen by Christ Tomlin with lyrics

Our faith is built on His faithfulness. When everything is unknown, our faith shall stand.

Hurt vs. Recover

Everybody was born with different personality traits, and I see myself as a sensitive person, easily get hurt and touched.

And I also am a one, not so easy to be defeated and a self-recovery person.

Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

Stories behind every picture

Wolfberry comes back to live after the whole leaves withered!
First blossom of Wolfberry, gorgeous!

This is the plant that a lovely couple from my church gave me months ago and the husband insisted that it is too heavy for me to hold so he moved it to my car for me.

Every day, I watered it and watching it grows.

One day, all the leaves started to have bumps all under the leaves, looked like either some bugs were laying eggs there or it was sick or something and then all the leaves started to turn yellow and soon after all the leaves were gone.

I was very upset, thinking, “How will I tell them about this when I see them again in church?”

At the beginning, I tried to search from the internet to find ways to save the tree with some nature ways, like spray with homemade ginger water, garlic water and the like which I was hoping are the way to kill either the germs or the bugs.

I was desperate, for some time, the tree remind the same, lifeless and leafless.

Prayed for it and sang to them as I usual do.

Now it finally back to life and have the first flower two days ago.

Another story behind this tree is the husband of the tree giver, had a medical emergency, brain hemorrhage, almost 2 months ago, and now is in the process of recovery.

I pray the Lord to give the healing and strength to him and his family. I also tried my best to visit them once a week; singing, praying and chatting with them, one more like I usually do when visiting someone who is sick or injure.

Pray him like the dying tree back to its full life, grow flowers and fruits again.

p.s. there are 2 times that I heard him said something that is really negative, as after his brain hemorrhage probably damage some of the nerves, don’t know is that the case this negative thoughts came from or is that in his subconscious, besides prayer is more prayer for his recovery.

And when he is fully recovered, I’ll for sure to tell him that how scared is that to hear what he said.
