A mosquito, really bother me and my family. I tried very hard to snap it, lose out after several tries. Felt frustrated then I pray to God for helping to catch it and kill it. And I did it, mission completed.

Seasoned Bake Sweet Potatoes

Yes, this can be either snack or dessert.

It is simple and healthy, easy as 1-2-3-4-5-6-7; buy it, wash it, cut it, season it, bake it and then eat it. Wait, here is the 7th, love it.

The seasonings that I used are, coarse sea salt, hand grind pepper, paprika and avocado oil, how much to use? Just enough to taste.

Anyone has question about how to cut those nice sweet potatoes while it’s still raw and hard; without cutting through the whole piece of it and evenly, well, almost, ha? Wait for it, here's the fun part about cutting.

First, of course, make sure you have a sharp knife, and if you are really good at cutting then feel free to cut it without any aid tool. Otherwise, you can use either 2 of the chopsticks or 2 piece of small cutting boards and have them on each side of the sweet potato and cut it, here, I prefer the small cutting boards, steadier.

I normally set the oven's temperature to 350°F for baking and bake until you can smell the good aroma of that food then it's done.

Ingredients:

去皮後的芋頭、地瓜、紫地瓜  

Peeled taro, sweet potatoes or yam, purple yam, cooked and mashed 100g

樹薯粉 Tapioca flour  30g

滾水.....依情況決定加入 hot water amount vary

Try to use different kind of ingredients to make a colorful snacks.

I only made the ones with sweet potatoes, got tired and I’m glad that I decided so. Not because it doesn't turn out good but the kids won't buy it, it ends up I finish them all, all by myself in sweet barley soup for days. It tastes good and bouncy.

And I didn't use any water, the water in the sweet potatoes is good enough for making into balls with tapioca flour.

on duty

Last week I have a special on duty days. In two days, I got a totally of 8 companies are interesting in our great media, emails (3) & call-ins (4).

Not long ago, I got the coupons from kohl's in the email, one of them are $10 off of a purchase of $30 or more. And it turns out its, $10 off of a purchase of $50 or more, I used this type of coupon of $10 off of a purchase of $30 or more couples times before and never has this over $50 or more before.

Therefore, my eyes, my brain and/or my heart must assume that is a $10 off of a purchase of $30 or more. I even double, triple check with my own eyes before I went to use it, still, my fault, or I should say, my eyes fault.

should we prune the tree 1

This is a question that my son asked, weeks ago when we were on the way to church.

Well, how about you? What will be your answer?

For me, I agree, of course, otherwise, the tree will grow too tall or something. It’s also good for the tree itself.

And my son, obviously, not agree with that. Why do we make the decision for the tree, does it really need it, and even it won’t make noise, it doesn’t that it’s not hurting by that.

And sure enough that if you go on computer and Google, it shows all the reasons, how, why, and when to prune the tree. In realistic the answer is yes, but if a tree can talk, then, there will be definitely another story to tell, right?

There Goes My Social Life

Not even finish half the book yet, but I have something or I should say a lot things to say about it.

After I borrowed it from library, brought it home and because I borrowed 3 books at the same time, I didn't read this one first, set it aside and I almost forgot that I borrowed this particular book, every time, I pass this book and thought, why my son borrowed this book, ha, funny.

Before I open my mouth and ask this question, my son asked me, "Mom, I thought you are a Democrat person, not a Republican one". That’s when I realized that I am the one who borrowed this book. I don't quite recall the exact reason that I borrowed this book in the first place, I’m not even a politic people, knowing not much about it. No one is perfect on everything or can cheers or satisfies everybody, whoever is good for the commonwealths, then, he/she, get to be the head of the country.

Another funny thing is, this book just in time for the hot topic of 2016 U.S. presidential election, although, she is talking about the previous election and the social media.

Did you get to watch or heard about anything about the first presidential debate of 2016 on Monday night, September 26, Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton debate each other at Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY.

It's more like arguing than debating. The second day both side claimed they won the debate.

Let’s get to the point, about this book; it's good, most of time, to say aloud about your opinion on things. By the power of media, millions of people will know you in an instant, either follow you or against you. 

Also about the author, Stacey Dash, an American celebrity, her childhood, a not so easy one.

To me, politic is kind of dark thing, not transparent, meaning, you can never trust anyone of them, what they say or do or promise, or whatever. 

Waking the Spirit

An incredible journey, so many touching and amazing real life encounters, occurred in the near death experience of the author, Andrew Schulman.

Many times, I burst into tears, not because feeling sad but tears of joy of those accounts.

It’s unbelievable, he even get to meet one of the music player in the record that his wife plays from his iPod, the one that save his life before this gentleman die, and say thank you in person.

Andrew surprisingly to meet the son and daughter-in-law of the legendary lyricist, Yip Harburg, and an old couple, who was close friend of the composer and pianist, George Gershwin.

Albertsons, a supermarket, in my area, almost every time, whenever it has something on sale and I get to go shop for those on sale items, it just never have enough on sale products in stock, almost every time.

And every time I go, I compliant, so my son says to me, well if you already knew then don't come to this store for on sale items, simple as that.

Suggestion accepted, but my point is, should the store supposed to have enough or extra in stock for this on sale thing.

I mean that they do give rain check, but I just don’t get it.

It’s like around 48 oz. of plain yogurt, 1 pound of small diced strawberries and around half c of honey, mix well, then froze it.

Not too much honey otherwise, it’ll lose its sour taste from the plain yogurt.

Yesterday, before I went home from work, I wrote a blog about how one of my coworkers, ignore the date that he supposed to have an oil change, and his car breakdown. 

On the way home, I suddenly remember to check when I should have mine, an oil change, I was startled to find that my car, the mileages is way pass the mileages that I supposed to have the oil change, a little over 400 miles.

My jaw drop, how careless I am, and how lucky I am in the meantime.

So today after the communication service, I went to have the oil change and the technician also observed the water tank has crack and leakage.

All fix now, safe to go.

Someone’s birthday today, must not forget, must in good mood, and must prepare our traditional birthday meal.

Only the different is, we all going to have the tomatoes, green onion, leek and notoginseng from our garden as part of our meals.

I laugh so loud when I flip to the back cover of this book. What on earth was he thinking about? Both the statue and Robin William. Ha!

He can really make me laugh without saying a word, even just an expression or a pose.

Alone but not lonely

Sometimes, I just have to remind myself that the kids won't be on my side forever.

Yesterday, they went to a wedding together.

so I went grocery shopping alone, went home nap a bit, took care of my baby plants, browse internet, listen some lesson from the YouTube, publish articles for my blogger, ate dinner, had desert.

Feeling alone but not lonely.

Pray for their safety, their future and everything.

WE COULD BE BEAUTIFUL

Before I can share something about this book; while I read along, I thought, it's a book of some sort of bio or nonfiction, a real life story is told.

It's only toward the very end of the book, I'm shocked and embarrassed to find out that it's a fiction, a novel, not a true story.

It is when it solved the mystery in my mind, when I reading this book, all the plots, scenarios, are so much like the soap operas, although, we cannot deny, the story in the soap operas does happen in real life.

The way the story is described, makes me want to finish the book as quickly as possible in order to know the result, and there's even times that I'm tempted to just skip the story and go to the end.

It is a good storytelling book, you can visualize the scenes.

Conversation

There's a conversation about their coming youth retreat with my son.

Me: So you guys are going to carpooling for the retreat, right?
Son: of course, what else?
Me: oh, how about, planepooling? 
Son: yeah, right.
Me: Let' go buy a plane and you be the pilot!
Son: yeah! And everybody will landing with a parachute!

heaven & hell

People use the words, God, heaven and hell, all the time in their daily conversations.

Like, oh my God, go to hell for heaven's sake, will you?

But they refuse to admit that there is truly a God, heaven and hell are actually exiting.

Is that self-contradictory.

There’s one time I went to the post office to mail a package.

I felt so chill when I step in, and I noticed the temperature was set as 71°F for the air conditioning.

Do we really need to set the temperature that low? Its waste of energy.

Pomegranate

Last week I went grocery shopping with a coworker and she bought two bags of Dried Cranberries Pomegranate Juice Infused. And yes, they have the word, Pomegranate much bigger and eye-catching, and yes again to my eyes. Until today I went back to the store check on the label again. I realized that it’s Dried Cranberries not Dried Pomegranate, silly me.

Labor Day

Breakfast for three = home grown tomatoes + home raised chicken eggs (Oh, how I wish).

Lunch for three = New York strip steak with bone in + onion + corn on the cob.

Yeah! Those were for Labor Day weekend. And turned out, I worked (cooked) harder than ever. But happy meals + happy kids = happy mom, oh well.

Addition to the laboring thing, I do have the first time ever, very successful on cooking the steaks with oven.

Sure that I google it before cook it, I broil each side of the steaks for 10-15 minutes(depends on what bakeware that you are using, for metal one, like the cast iron bakeware, ten minutes should be enough, in my case, I have the glassware, so another five minutes to add on the ten) to lock the moisture in

Then turn the temperature down to 300 – 350°F for 10 - 15 minutes, add in sliced onions to the same bakeware as the steak. This way the onion can be done and steak taste at the same time.

And make sure separate all the sliced onions before throw all in the baking.  

You can also substitute onion with other vegetables, carrots, potatoes, asparagus and much more. Be creative and explorative.

A cloudy day makes me feel depressed, especially the sunny day in California, it's like forever.

I talked to a coworker about this cloudy day today, it's like going to rain but cannot that makes feeling down. Then she said, oh, this is like someone trying to go to bathroom but cannot pee off, now that's not nice but this did make me laugh my blue away.

The reason that I pick this song in the first place, is because I like the beat, so lively and encouragement. As I try to sing along and learn to sing well, I realize that it's kind of too fast for me to catch up the lyrics or I should say catch my breath. What in the world? Unlike other times, when I prepare for the worship songs, I normally, have the songs that come to my mind and pick, one or two or sometimes even earlier prior to the actually worship dates, I have no clue or whatsoever, what songs that I should use for this coming Friday's fellowship gathering. 

Until this early morning when I routinely browsing the internet, I was on my Facebook page, then the thought of worrying came into my mind, should I just use those 3 English songs that I listen over and over again the past week? But it's a fellowship in Chinese, then I have another thought, maybe one of my Facebook friend will share a song that I can use, right at this second, a song, I believe, appeared on the screen from one of my friends.

You won't believe this, when I typed in 隔行如隔山 for the translation in English, this is what I got, Ge-hang-ru-ge-shan(here I add in the dashes for the exact pronunciation of it), literally, this is just  what the pronunciation of this Chinese idiom.

The  different profession job field, the knowledge is totally different. Well, most of the time, you just cannot understand or judge or give advice for a field that you are not in, period.

The author Liz Pryor finally let her secret out, though, after 36 years, bravely let it all out to the public in her book, it’s inspiration to others in some point.

I feel bad and happy for her at the same. She asked her mom’s permission before she dies to write this memoir. It’s a way to release pressure or sorrow or anything negative thought out, via writing in this case.

There’s a saying, its better safe than sorry. Some bad things can be prevented from happening. But if did happen, how to deal with it, physically and mentally is crucial to a person’s future.

I’m not sure is that the best way that Liz’s mom’s decision for her, but she sure turn out real well.

Something to ponder over, what is more important, the way that you are or the way that others think you are?

Who can be the son of Jesus Christ?

Is that someone who is perfect in everything, is that someone who donates a lot of money or is that someone who gives the best offerings?

John 約翰福音 1:12-13

¹² But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, ¹³ who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. ¹² 凡接待他的，就是信他名的人，他就賜他們權柄，作神的兒女。¹³ 這等人不是從血氣生的，不是從情慾生的，也不是從人意生的，乃是從神生的。

Galatians 加拉太書 3:26 

for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.
所以，你們因信基督耶穌都是神的兒子。

Ephesians 以弗所書 1:4
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
就如神從創立世界以前在基督裡揀選了我們，使我們在他面前成為聖潔，無有瑕疵；

Our Abba Father is not just change your lives out of computer technology, make changes in the cyber world but alter your lives completely.

When we are in deep stormy, come across of difficulty, temptation, in danger, fear, come to Him, in him, there's peace, comfort, healing and redemption.

We all do have a different Dad, Abba Father.

We don't need to be perfect or good to be the son of God or give gifts or money.

What good and different being the son of God?

Ephesians 以弗所書 6:10-18

¹⁰ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.¹³ Therefore, take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day and, having done all, to stand.¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness,¹⁵ and your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace.¹⁶ Above all, take the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God,¹⁸ praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

We are blessed and protected from our heavenly Father.

Isaiah 以 賽 亞 書 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
你不要害怕，因為我與你同在；不要驚惶，因為我是你的神。我必堅固你，我必幫助你；我 必用我公義的右手扶持你。

Romans 羅馬書 15:13 
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
但願使人有盼望的神，因信將諸般的喜樂、平安充滿你們的心，使你們藉著聖靈的能力大有 盼望 。

John 約翰福音 16:33

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
我將這些事告訴你們，是要叫你們在我裡面有平安。在世上，你們有苦難；但你們可以放心 ，我已經勝了世界。

We may not be able to change anything that happened in the past, but we can make a different decision for the future, trust in Lord, become a Christian, your descendants will be born in a Christian family, and receive the blessings form our God.
