3-28-2014 friday night s. ca. la habra 5.1 earthquake

A 5.1 magnitude earthquake that struck Southern California Friday night, 3/20/2014, More than 100 aftershocks have been reported across Southern and at least temporarily displaced about 50 people and luckily it caused no serious structural damage.

When the 5.1 magnitude earthquake happens, we are having a sister fellowship meeting, I am about to share something with sisters. Immediately we stop and keep the door open but we remind inside until it stops. It lasts around 30 seconds; it feels like swirling instead of shaking at first.

The first thing come into my mind at that moment, is my younger one is with their youth group nearby, he is safe. But my older one is either at school, on the bus on the way home or home alone. So I grab the phone and try to call him but the call won’t work.

I’m glad that we all safe and sound. And when I recall the whole thing back, I am the first and the only one has the reaction to make the phone call right after the earthquake. I must not a very secure person, is that right? Also we forgot to pray right after the earthquake hits us.

Fortunately there is no major damage or injuries with this temblor.

And you won’t believe this; we just have another 4.4 magnitude tremor minute ago. It’s a big shakes. Boy! That is scary and crazy. I just about to write that often time me pray to the Lord, oh! Lord! Please give us the small earthquakes here and there to release the inside of the earth and with no harms to anyone or anything.

Right after the rattles, my younger one calls me to make sure that I’m ok, although he is just close by using the computer. I’m blessed. And call my older one and at their area, they didn’t even feel a thing.

pumpkin rice noodle

I really like them myself, if you like pumpkin too.
It tastes good and the golden color looks good too.

I have the rice noodle soak in the tasty boiling sauce from the chestnuts chicken for about one minute.
I don't have the minced meat and eggs, only put pumpkin, carrot and mushroom then mix with the rice noodle.

This is also the first time that I ever cook rice noodle. I always like fry rice noodle. But don’t know how to do it and have no confidence in myself too.

I’m pretty much like what I did. And it’s not that difficult like I thought of.

Also mushroom is a big plus for the dish.

Praise someone in public and point out the shorting in private.

Unfortunately normally people do the reserve way.

Even worse, is that people don't praise on the good in any way but putting their finger on the flaw.

Moreover, people putting his/her finger on something not seem improper at all.

I remember one day there's one sister walk in the room and immediately, she point to someone and said Joanna what happen to your hair. We have like 6 or 8 other sisters there, we all looking at this lady puzzled. There’s something wrong with Joanna's hair? She looks just perfectly fine to all the others.

Yes! We should try to our positive and appropriate suggestion in private.

I’m going to prepare now. Yum! Yum! It will use the secret ingredient from chestnuts chicken again.

Some people say that your dream may be reflect the inside thoughts of yours. Some said, your dream may predict some event.

I have some experiences about it. One is I particular remember clearly, I have a dream about something bad happen to one of my family member. That night I cry in the dream and wake myself up then I pray very hard for it.

Months later, it did have some emergency happen and luckily, she’s saved.

The dreams also mirror your thoughts, joy, sad or pressures.

I dream almost every night sometimes I wait up very tired, feeling like I haven’t have rest. Is that because I think too much during the day or it’s the brain structure of mind?

singing lesson

Today I join a singing lesson. It’s kind of contradicted inside my heart. I really want to learn and I think fewer students are good, but I’m so nervous at the same time. I’m afraid of what if I can improve and it’s very easy to be spot of not doing right in the small group.

I do hope my singing can be improved through this learning.

married for 70 years

Yesterday I met a loving couple at the convalescent home, they being married for 70 years. Wow! That is precious. Some people may not be able to live as long as 70 years. They’ve together for 70 years and still love each other dearly.

The wife is 90 years old and the husband is 92 years old, but they look just like 70 years old to me. So I was joking with them that I don’t believe it because you two look only 70 years old to me.

They both are healthy and joyful. But sadly the wife has move to the convalescent home two years ago due to the blindness of fell down on her forehead other than that she is very health.

The husband, frank told me that he was a missionary for 50 years. The wife, Alice, was a Spanish teacher at high school. They both devotional Christians, they are both blessed very much.

Alice is trying to lose some weighs, she walks up and down the isle, that’s when I walk and talk with her. It’s not a long time maybe 15 or 20 minutes before she’s going to have dinner and I have to leave for home too. That’s a valuable moment we share our faith and pray together.

I’m hoping that I can see them next time when I go there again and again, talk and talk again.

cockroach trap - review

Months ago I bought a cockroach trap. Of course for trap cockroach, we have a very old house that’s probably why we have a lot of cockroaches. The trap is a sticky trap house, no smell and nontoxic, it works very well. I’ve been used for two of them and trap a lot of the cockroaches. Then I change them into two new ones, but since then it only trap couples of cockroaches. I don’t know is that because we have no more cockroaches at our house, the cockroaches won’t come into our house, or the cockroaches become smart?

Over all I will still recommend this product.

Compare to the universe we are so tiny and it seems that we are not that important. But in God’s eyes, we are all His precocious sons and daughters. And He’s with us all the time.

There’s one more person baptized today at the rehabilitation center. That’s the 3^rd one this year. I’m hoping every people there will come to Jesus soon.

prices up

The prices are up for a lot of stuffs, the gas, the milk, the tax, insurance…... And we always joking about that every price are up but the salary is the same.

brain cells damage

The health report says if you are lack of sleep time, the brain cells will be damaged. And even you make up the time during the day it won’t help. So we better have an enough and good quality of sleep during the night.

Also there’s a fact about the brain that watching pornography will change the brain’s biological structure.

I think the same thing will happen if you watch something is not appropriate, like violence movie or play violence games. That answers how a person behaves changed and you didn’t even aware of it.

And my older one gives me some suggestions about cooking now and then. It’s nice, some of them I already known but don’t have time energy to do the change, some of them are new to me.

God's not dead

There’s a new movie in theater today, God’s not dead.

I didn’t get chance to see it yet.

The movie is about the Philosophy profession, at the first day of his class, he asks the students to write down three words on the paper and sign it too. The words are “God is dead.” There’s a Christian student refuse it. And the professor challenge him, if he don’t write that down, then he’ll fail that class or if he can have a debate with him and convince him that God’s not dead is a truth.

I’m more curious about professor himself, what makes him so hate about God?

In real life, I ask myself the same question many times before; how willing will I defend about my own faith. Will me willing to risk my own life for something I believe. I really don’t dare to answer it.

And we do know many people, they not just stand up for their religious, they even lost their freedom or lives for it.

eat out together

Yesterday I took kids out for the lunch/dinner; it’s not a fancy one. But the whole family eats together without the interruption from computer, TV, phone call or anything, that’s a joyful moment.

After that we went buy drinking water and then went for a short walk at the mountain side. The drive is kind of long yet it’s worthy, fresh air and again with you love ones. We talk and laugh together. What a wonderful time.

As a mom normally asks not much, just a quality time with family that’s all I need.

There’s a saying, don’t judge a book by its cover. That’s very right.

But what if we found that what you see on the outside is different than on the inside. For example, a very devotional Christian, on the outside he/she is very well behaved at any church occasion, knowing all the scriptures inside and out but inside his/her heart is ugly. That’s how it sometimes hinders people to get close to God.

shortage? goodness?

Its funny when I talk to a friend about my shortage of cannot concentrate for a long time. And in the end of the conversation my shortage turns into a goodness of me.

I have a community service with church group at a rehabilitation center; we have worship time with songs and then a short message to share with. It’s not a long message, around 30 minutes or so. But to me it’s kind of long one, I’ll start to look around and think about something else, and that’s how I always can spot anyone need a help, trying to going out or coming in or for any other need.

I never notice that about myself until my friend tell me in a praise way not a criticize manner. I’m so thanks for this kind of friend, it’s so precious.

So a shortage is not necessary a shortage if you can take a good look at it and turn it into a merit.

babies

I can never forget when my sons were babies; they were so adorable and so tiny too. I can just hold them with one arm and doing some other things with the other arm.

Especially when the old one was born, I was still in school, I was holding on him with one arm and doing the homework with the other arm.

So many cute memories with these two, I’ll try to write them down so I can remember them forever.

I think that I do need a new computer. I’ve writing so much lately. So many thought keep coming into my mind that I want to share or to remember those special moments. Some are new some are old from the past.

Yesterday one of the co-workers brought her daughter to work. I was talking to and everything for some time before I left the office for an appointment. Then I rush to the restroom to get ready for leaving. Then a thought come into my mind, I should give her daughter a hug, she is so cute. And believe it or not right when I open the restroom’s door, her daughter was right at my door, she needs to go to the restroom too. So quickly I gave her a hug, and tell her, you are such a lovely girl and say bye-bye to her.

I’ve been sharing this kind coincidence many times before. And there going another one, and to be continued.

This early morning a magnitude 4.4 earthquake hits Los Angeles California, I didn’t even feel it. I must be too tired from the weekend.

Luckily everything is ok, no any damages or injuries are reported.

And I notice that there’re several earthquakes occurred within the week, northern California, Japan, and Taiwan.

unhealth but delicious

It’s so unfortunately that most of the time the foods that taste delicious aren’t healthy.

Watch for the ingredients whenever you can, artificial color, artificial favor, preservative, antioxidant…..etc. and try to eat less processed foods, consume the original foods as much as possible.

But one thing is there’s so much pollution nowadays, we only can try our best of it, try to cook the foods yourself instead of eat out.

onion eggs

Last week before I went home from grocery shopping, I called my older son try to ask him to cook a dish, onion eggs for me, and to my surprise, he told me that he already cook it. Yes! I was smile at the smart and final store where I call him.

He also suggested me that I should cook the onion eggs with less onion and dice the onion instead of the big chunks of piece.

And it is delicious!

mission impossible

In charge of the entertainment for 3-15-2014 San Diego

trip, it seems a mission impossible at the beginning to me.

First my kids, they cannot make because they have their own activity to attend. Second I didn’t have any experience or idea about how to do it at all.

Somehow I take it and I don’t even feel scare or anything about it.

I don’t even worry a lot when they told me that the CD that we have may not be able to play at the bus DVD player. I know we all come prepared, we all going to help out if that really happen, and God is watch over us. Yes! You raise me up to the most that I can be.

Two weeks Friday before the trip, I couldn’t go to sleep until very late that night due to a small piece of coffee cake. That night all the ideas and songs keep coming into my mind just like the fountain flowing deep and wide. That is really amazing.

I don’t have any ides about who will be in our group of bus that day. Totally I pick six songs, two English, two mandarin, one Cantonese, and mix mandarin and English. I also randomly pick couples of small prizes from our house; I didn’t buy them, books, snacks, toys…etc

To my astonishing, half our group is new friends and more than half group people are Cantonese speaking. I don’t speak much Cantonese, but I do pick one of a very beautiful Cantonese song.

The travel is perfectly fine too.

And every body is participate, every body appreciate on everything we get.

wonderful san diego trip 3-15-2014

The past Saturday’s San Diego
Trip is perfectly wonderful. And thanks for so many people’s efforts. Almost every single of our rainbow fellowship members were part of the hard works.
We have people in charge of schedule the trip, arrange the bus, the breakfast, the entertainment at the bus, where to visit, the bus driver, the tour guide, inviting the new friends, collecting the fee, buying the entrance tickets, buy the stuff that we need at the trip, including snack, water and emergency kit, the prayer support, and each everyone who participate at the event, people donate their extra money and time for it, burning the CD for the songs, finding the best buffet restaurant and they even go best the trip to do the food taste make sure that the best for us to enjoy. I’m so enjoy and thanks for everything.

But if my two kids also can make it for that trip that’ll be perfectly perfect.

We have two buses with total more than one hundred people participate this trip.
I’m one of the bus entertainment hosts.

Before go on the trip we all worry about what if the CD won’t work with the bus DVD player. I pray and pray, but somehow I have the confidence in it. I know even the CD won’t work, God will bless us on our plan B. we all pray and go with fully prepare, we let go the worry and let God in charge of everything.

On the bus, we sing along, play games, ask interesting questions and give away many gifts. No one got car sick or get bored of the road trip.

Everyone give thanks and praise for my efforts, some old friends even say that they are surprised about me. Actually I’m the been surprised about myself, and I believe that it’s not me along doing the job that day, with all the support and love and encouragement from brothers and sisters and most of all the LOVE from our Lord together we fulfill the mission impossible.

Every stop was right on the schedule no delay no waiting for anyone even the traffic is superb.

(a) Before departure:
At Saturday the bus departure around 8:00am, we collecting the registration papers and give away the breakfast at the same time. No one is late for it, which is another mission impossible.

(b) Carlsbad
flower fields:The Carlsbad
flower fields establish at 1951. Our group leader even purchases the entrance ahead for us, so we don’t need to wait a long time to get in the fields. Is that wonderful?
Those flowers are so gorgeous, all different kinds of flowers, all different kind of colors, they even prepare some simple game for the kids help them to enjoy and learn about the nature. The wagon ride, kids activity, kid playground and the beautiful souvenir shop are ready for us to advantage of it’s free or with little fee.
Some people they went to the outlet store for shopping. They got good deals too. One of the ladies even changes into the new clothes right after purchase them. We are joking to her husband, wow! You got a new wife that is so hilarious. I bat that make all other husband jealous.

(c) Depart to the buffet lunch:
It’s twenty something minutes away, on the way; I play the VBS sing along video and questions with prizes.
We all satisfied with yummy foods. There are variety of foods to choice from, even including sushi, sashimi, ice cream, drinks and chief cook whatever you pick in front of you.

(d) La Jolla
beach:Before we have the free time for the beach, we took some group picture. But the auto picture taking function seem not work at that time, so we have some random guy took it for us, and he’s a very funny guy.
We have 3 hours to appreciate this lovely beach, sea lions, water activities, and/or the down town La Jolla. One of the sea lion swim to the shore, he/she enjoy to get close to the visitors and I also think he/she enjoys to be picture taken.
We are fond of the nature sight there and when comes to leave, no one feel like to go. Before we leave, most of us go to restroom, but the restroom was so crowd and dirty, so decide to leave for a close rest area to use the restroom.

(e) Going home:
On the way home a lot of the people were doze off, so we play a video for the people who were awake. When we were close to our stop, we sing more songs, some new and some from the songs that we sung earlier, sharing, games, and prize giving away. We got to our church at around 8:00pm.

The small price that we pay including every fee, transportation, tips for driver and the restaurant, the entrance fee for the flower fields, breakfast, buffet lunch, bottle water and snacks. It’s almost like impossible, but we make it successfully.

spread God's love

Is easy or hard to spread God’s love?

It’s hard and easy at the same time.

It always depends upon who is the one try to deliver the message, when, the timing, how, the way you approach people, what, in what way you give the words, whom, that you try to evangelism, where, the location is also a key of it.

Sometimes you feel it’s urgent but to others it’s a pressure.

love

Love is precious. You can not put a price on it.

Sometimes you can do something crazy only because of love.

But nothing can compare with the love from our God. He even has His only son, JESUS for us.

spring break

Different school the spring break will be totally different; I understand that they must have their concerns. It sometimes is really difficult for the parents, because the friends or even the family cannot have the vacation together. Oh! Well, what can we do?

I try to stay home a little bit more each week for the kids from my busy schedule.

uncle kim

Today I went to visit a friend’s dad.

He’s been stay in convalescent home for years.

At that moment when I see him, I have a mixed feeling.

He’s very sick; most of his physical functions are lost. He can see and hear but I don’t know if he can understand me still. Every time when I see him, I greet with him, talk, pray for him, and sing song for him. That’s all I can do.

There are a lot of things that is not in control in our hands, or any other’s hands.

Do what we should do, let go and let God.

3-21-2014

I just heard from his daughter about his condition is not good. Again the only one thing I can do now is pray for him and him family.

I pray the Lord the uncle Kim will suffer less as possible if that’s the Lord will to take him away from us. I pray that Uncle Kim still have a second chance when see the Lord’s face, he will say yes to the God and become a Christian at the last moment.

I pray for his loving family will have a peace in their mind and not to sad about it. So far in his family only one of the member is a Christian, so I pray that the Lord to open their mind to see Him, to know Him and receive Him as their Savior.

I visited uncle Kim couples times before, I sung Jesus is here, and read some bible verses for him. He cannot talk but I do believe that he can hear and understand me.

Uncle Kim dies shortly after Friday afternoon I call his daughter and pray for Uncle Kim and his family. Although Uncle Kim didn’t get to open his month to say that he’s willing to receive God’s love due to his physical dysfunction. I believe in his mind he is and the blessings will go to his loving family on earth.

how can i love them

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7)

But how about the people are not loveable, people who treat you badly, even people who hurt now and then, will you be able to love them?

40 days community lesson

I will be the one to lead the 40 days of community in our fellowship. It’s supposed to be this week, but because the outing this week’s meeting been cancelled. It’s a relief because I have an extreme busy week, I’ll do the worship leading for the rehabilitation center for the coming Friday, also part of the worship thing for the outing. If it adds on this lesson preparation, it’ll be too much to me. Thanks God, He knows, and He raises me up to take up anything that I need to complete.

I just found out that I’m not the one leading the worship for the Friday event. It’s next Friday.

And I just remember I’ll be the translator from Taiwanese to mandarin for the Sunday convalescent home community service. Good thing is I don’t need to prepare anything ahead for that, I just go and do it.
It turn out, they have some other arrangement for that.

Lesson day:

We’ll have the prayer before the lesson begin, I’ll encourage each one pray out loud, maximum 3 sentences for each person then assign someone or I to do the ending pray.

Ask question: when the starting time for Sunday worship?
It’s not 10:00am or 9:45am, its 9:20am that we start our Sunday worship with prayers.

Ask for sharing: what’s worship to you?

With this lesson I learn a lot, before the day, I thought worship is using songs and music to praise our Lord. I learn that worship is prayer, singing, offering, even your daily life, how you act and the relationship with God.

And we all need to prepare our heart with prayer before we worship Him. If you have some misunderstanding between anyone, you need to solve it first.

For offering, I always think that it not just the money but our heart and action.
