9-8-2017 sharing; Joshua and more

Last time we talk about Moses, how he led the Israelites cross red sea and out of Egypt.

However, their faith in God failed them and they refused to march forward to take possession of the land of Canaan. It was a failure that resulted in God's judgment, condemning the Israelites to forty years of wilderness wandering. Moses die in Mount Nebo, looking at promise land.

A new generation of Israelites, hardened by the years in the wilderness and spiritually strengthened by living in obedience to the Law of Yahweh's holy covenant, were prepared to march forward in faith to claim the Promised Land.

Led by God's anointed leader, Joshua, these holy warriors obediently placed their lives and the future of their children in the hands of their Holy God and Divine King. Their victory not only established Israel as a holy nation but advanced God's plan for mankind's ultimate salvation. We'll briefly talk about 9 out of 12 Historical books in Old Testament.

Three main roles, the Lord, the leader, and the people.
The deliverance from Egypt was only in preparation for the enjoyment of Canaan; we are brought out of sin so that we might be into abundant life.

Joshua; Conquest of the Promised Land (1:1-12:24), Allotment of the Tribal Lands (13:1-22:34), Israel's Future in the Promised Land (23:1-24:33)

Judges & Ruth, the book of Judges powerfully demonstrates the chaos that can arise when sin reigns in people’s hearts. In contrast, the book of Ruth offers a message of redemption and hope following disorder. Set in a time when everyone “did what was right in his own eyes,” both books work together to highlight God’s faithfulness in the midst of Israel's disobedience.

The book of
1 & 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings and 1 & 2 Chronicles: the kings of Judah & Israel, record the history of God’s people from the time of the Judges to the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians.

1 Samuel 8:4-9 and said to him, “Behold, you are old and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint for us a king to judge us like all the nations.” 4 於是,以色列的長老一起到拉瑪去見撒母耳, 5 說:「你年紀大了,你的兒子不效法你。

1 Chronicles 28:3 But God said unto me, ‘Thou shalt not build a house for My name, because thou hast been a man of war and hast shed blood.’

1 Kings 6:1 And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the Lord.
