Have a guest speaker for the annual anniversary, it is fine to me.
Just a personal opinion, this speaker has been more like an Asian parent, I mean, the way he preaches for this special occasion, hard to tell the encouragement or scolding. Was he trying to praise or blaming? And yes, he does has the history of the church in the sermon.
The other congregation, there's a short introduction of the history of the church and then is the message.
I really don't mind, each year has a short history of our church, though it's the same old thing, it is our family history. Even it is exact same history, it can be presented in a difficult way, at a different timeline, a different inspiration.
