肥媽 Maria Cordero

The other day I heard part of the interview of Maria Cordero, while I’m driving to an appointment, Maria Cordero, MH (肥媽瑪俐亞; Fat Mama Maria) is a singer, actress, TV Host and DJ from Macau. She also has her own cooking show, Maria's Kitchen (肥媽私房菜) on Cable TV.

Something inspire me, in the interview, the radio hostess asks her, is she feeling upset about still working during Chinese New Year, for this is a major holiday in Chinese’s culture, here’s her answer, “ working!? I’m not working, I love singing, I love cooking”, wow!

She’s ok for her nickname, Fat Mama.

She also mentions for her cooking show has been on for 4 years by now, never a single recipe being repeated, “I have over 2,000 recipes ready for me to show and teach”.

One interesting comment about money from her, “spend the money while you can, for spending them when you can, it’s called money, after you die, then, it’s called inheritance.”
She also has fairy good relationships with others, families, friends and the like. And she reveal a typically relationships with her grandchildren.

Ever complain about the work, the boss, co-workers, work overtime, treating unfair at work on and on, to her, she is enjoying all of her so-called not a working things? Ever treat money too conservatively for yourself or others?
She didn’t even grow up with an easy childhood. When she was eleven her father died in Cordero, and she began working to support her seven brothers and sisters. She resorted to using identity cards from friends, because the legal working age in Hong Kong was 14. Of course, for this one, I don’t quite agree on the illegal issue but sometimes, you have no choice, especially on the age thing, for I know some other people have to lie or do something illegal to survive.

While working as a hotel telephone operator, she came across the opportunity to learn the bass guitar. The hotel resident band found out and hired her to play at night after she auditioned. For several years she worked a triple job of telephone operator in the day, band player at night, and working as a cashier. But she also worked as a line cook for takeaway contractors for office workers.
Not everything seems reasonable at the time, yet, it turn out to be the turning point or success key of your life every so often.
